Dealing With Diaper Rash

Managing diaper rash can be a rather tricky thing. It can get quite out of control and irritate your baby constantly. However, it is controllable and there are some tips that will help with diaper rash relief. Let’s take a look at what they are.

If your baby is prone to diaper rash, you have to be extra vigilant in keeping your baby dry. It is extremely important to change your baby’s diaper on a regular basis. As diaper rash is caused by too much contact with dampness on the baby’s skin, by having the baby’s diapers changed frequently will lessen the occurrence. You may also try using ointments specially made for prevention of diaper rash. These ointments work by being a protective layer against wetness and should be used at every diaper change.

In the case if your baby is already having diaper rash, you may try using Maalox to treat it. Apply some Maalox on your baby’s bottom and let it dry before putting the diaper on. Also remember not to buy the mint flavor for that will definitely make your baby very uncomfortable.

Another method is to give your baby an oatmeal bath. There are some oatmeal baths available on the market that is specially made for use on baby. These work great and it does not take more than two baths for the diaper rash to heal.
If all else fail, you should bring your baby to your pediatrician for help. The pediatrician may prescribe some medications if it is a bad case of diaper rash. For most part, preventing diaper rash in the first place is the best solution. Always make an effort to keep the rash at bay by keeping your baby dry.
