Baby's First year

If you are a new mother, you probably have 101 questions on your mind about your newborn. What to do if he sleeps for more than 3 hours? What if she cannot stop crying? What is the baby’s reaction and what are you to expect? As every baby has their own rate of growth, character and appearance, naturally no two babies will act exactly the same. But there are some signs and common reactions when your baby is growing.
A few points to watch out for in their first years:

Newborn
In the early stage when you have just brought the baby home from the hospital, do not be alarmed if you see that your baby has a somewhat sharp, pointy head and yellow skin tone. These are due to the delivery process and will go away in a couple of days. At this stage, the mother and child bonding is very crucial. Show your love with cuddles and touch, if possible breast feed your baby. Breast feeing is very important for your baby’s health. Newborns usually sleep about 10-12 hours a day with a feeding interval of every four hours.

1 – 3 Months
At this stage, babies are more expressive and can make small sounds. They will also have more movements while discovering their hands and surroundings.
3-6 months

Your baby’s growth at this time is most exciting. The baby is now able to move his hands to reach out for things. By the fourth month, he will probably be able to try sitting up and also he is able to recognized faces better. In the next two month, the baby should be able to start with solid foods. This is also the time when they start to crawl. It would be a good idea to baby proof your house at this time.

6-9 months
Most babies will start to say their first words during this period. They will have developed a sense to temperament too. Babies will start to give more reactions to different situations and have more facial expressions as well. During the seventh and eighth month, the baby may try to feed themselves simple foods. Most of the time, they like to make a mess by throwing the food to see what happens.

9-10 months

At this time, the baby will be much more active and can crawl faster and further. They are also able sit up now.
11-12 months

Your baby should be able to start saying simple words, waving good byes and have a better understanding of colors, forms and sounds
As your baby turn one, it is a good idea to start reading stories and have short play sessions with him.
